Frequently Asked Questions
-
What service is right for me?Grounded Hues offers a range of services with different pricing options. I encourage you to schedule a free 15-minute consultation to identify your needs and for you to receive recommendations on the next steps for treatment. After the initial consultation, it is recommended for couples and family therapy clients to schedule 75-minute appointments, as this format offers more time for discussion and processing.
-
How do I schedule, reschedule, or cancel a session?"You can use the online contact form, email, or phone to schedule, reschedule, or cancel a session. If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please do so at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. Cancellations and rescheduled sessions will be subject to a full charge if not received at least 24 hours in advance.
-
How will the first session go?All new clients will need to complete the required intake forms before your first session. Intake forms are completed in the online client portal. Your first session is considered an intake session and is required to start therapy. This intake session provides essential information that consists of clinical interview questions and assessments that are designed to provide in-depth knowledge of your life and concerns. It is strongly encouraged for you to book a 75-minute session for your first appointment. This will allow more time to go over intake forms and have a discussion on pressing issues. Please note that certain forms have to be reviewed and discussed before we can start therapy.

What is teletherapy and is it right for me?Teletherapy is the practice of therapy that occurs through two-way electronic communication, including, but not limited to, telephone, videoconferencing, email, text, instant messaging, and social media. Teletherapy is not much different from face-to-face therapy and carries the same benefits and risks, with the consideration for the failure of technology as a possible risk. Grounded Hues uses a secure, HIPPA-compliant online platform for videoconferencing. No other electronic communication methods are used for therapy sessions. If technical issues are experienced with the videoconferencing platform, other options will be made available. Although teletherapy is a convenient and accessible option for therapy, it may not be the best fit for all clients. Teletherapy may not be a good fit for those clients who are uncomfortable with teletherapy or using certain types of electronic communication. If you are new to teletherapy, please use the How to Join Your Telehealth Sessionfor steps on making your first video therapy session a success.

Do you take insurance? What are your rates? At this time, I do not participate in any insurance panels. Please subscribe to the Grounded Hues mailing list to stay updated on any changes to my participation in insurance plans. I do understand that cost is a significant barrier to participating in mental health services. Therefore, I charge below-median rates to make therapy more accessible to clients. These rates take into consideration the following factors: my education and experience, market rates, and operating costs. Additionally, I offer a limited number of sliding-scale fees. Standard Session Rates Initial Consultation, 15 min- Free of Charge Individual Therapy, 55 min- $85 Individual Therapy, 75 min- $100 Couples Therapy, 55 min- $100 Couples Therapy, 75 min- $120 Family Therapy, 55 min- $100 Family Therapy, 75 min- $120 Pre-paid packages are also available at discounted rates.
