Plot

The film revolves around the lives of three characters: Surya (Suriya), Nirmala (Laila) and Pooja (Sneha). Surya is a happy-go-lucky guy who works as a hotel manager. He falls in love with Nirmala, a rich girl who comes to stay in his hotel. However, Nirmala's father does not approve of their relationship and arranges her marriage with Ramesh (Ramji), a businessman. Surya tries to convince Nirmala that Ramesh is a crook, but she refuses to believe him. Later, she realizes her mistake when Ramesh cheats on her and tries to kill her. She escapes from him and comes back to Surya, but he has already moved on with his life.

Surya meets Pooja, a poor girl who works as a singer in his hotel. He helps her financially and emotionally, and they fall in love. However, Pooja suffers from a heart disease and needs an urgent surgery. Surya decides to donate his blood for her operation, but he gets into an accident on the way to the hospital. He survives the accident, but loses his memory. He forgets everything about his past, including Nirmala and Pooja.

Nirmala comes to know about Surya's condition and decides to take care of him. She hopes that he will regain his memory and love her again. Pooja also comes to know about Surya's condition and decides to sacrifice her love for him. She pretends that she does not know him and leaves him with Nirmala. However, Surya's memory returns after seeing a photo of Pooja in his wallet. He realizes that he loves Pooja more than Nirmala and goes to find her. He meets Pooja at the airport, where she is about to leave for Singapore for her treatment. He confesses his love for her and asks her to stay with him. Pooja agrees and they hug each other. Nirmala sees them together and realizes that she has lost Surya forever. She wishes them happiness and leaves them alone.

Production

The film was produced by AVM Productions, one of the oldest and most prestigious production houses in Tamil cinema. The film was directed by Vikraman, who had previously worked with Suriya in Poovellam Kettuppar (1999). The film was shot in various locations in India and abroad, including Chennai, Ooty, Kodaikanal, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Goa, Singapore and Malaysia.

Music

The music for the film was composed by Sirpy, who had also composed the music for Vikraman's previous films like Vaanathaippola (2000) and Priyamaanavale (2000).
